Apple iPhone X: the rumors that ended up wrong

Apple iPhone X: the rumors that ended up wrong

The last several days have been filled with reactions, memes and comments what the new iPhone is and what isnt. A lot of rumors and alleged live images appeared and while many of them turned out real and gave us a good idea of what to expect, some of them ended up to be unfounded speculations. Everything started with a that the anniversary iPhone might come with a Function Area to occupy the lower portion of its OLED panel. At one point a TouchBar might be in place, but the has a seamless screen with the usual distribution despite its taller aspect. A lack of fingerprint scanner in the flagship iPhone came out as a surprise for many, especially when multiple rumors and images suggested the reader may be placed either under the screen or on the back. We saw cases and even alleged prototypes, but they were proven to be fake. There was rumors going both ways for the name too while some correctly predicted that the anniversary flagship will be dubbed iPhone X others said . Well, we got an iPhone 8, it's just that it's the incremental rather than the major upgrade. In the year 2017 companies like Huawei and Xiaomi launch phones with colors like or . Surely Apple was going to announce at least pink iPhone X. Well, no, it only comes in Space Gray and Silver. The and the also come with more limited color options than before only adding Gold to the mix. Back in February, the iPhone X might ditch the Lighting port and go for USB-C. Apple apparently had no such plans and stuck with its in-house port. We also heard about Apple boosting the water resistance rating of its phones to IP68, but all three new phones come with IP67 only, meaning they only work under 1m of water or less. Finally there were reports of 512GB storage version, like on those latest iPads, but the new iPhones max out at 256GB. Maybe this is not such a great loss though considering the price it would have commanded few would have even considered it.
